RGK Nonprofit Scholarships - Spring 2026

RGK Nonprofit Scholarships support continuing UT Austin students who have secured an unpaid internship with a nonprofit organization/NGO.

 

Eligibility:

  • Continuing undergraduate, graduate, or PhD student at UT Austin (must be enrolled in spring 2026 classes)
  • Completing an unpaid internship with a U.S.-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) or c(4) organization
  • Internship can be done in-person or remote
  • Internship must take place during the spring 2026 semester (January-May)
  • Students must be in good academic standing (a minimum GPA of 3.0 and not on academic probation)
  • Students should not have received prior internship funding through the RGK Center or the LBJ School

Amount: Up to $3,000 per student

Deadline: January 19th, 2026

RGK Nonprofit Fellowships

RGK Fellowships provide UT Austin students with an opportunity to gain work experience at a nonprofit organization, funded by the RGK Center. 

 

All applicants must be currently enrolled students at the University of Texas at Austin and meet the following eligibility requirements:  

  • Continuing undergraduate, graduate, or PhD student at UT Austin (graduation date no earlier than Summer 2026) 

  • In good academic standing (a minimum GPA of 3.0 and not on academic probation) 

  • Students should not have received prior internship funding through the RGK Center or the LBJ School 

 

The internship stipend will be distributed directly to the student through the LBJ School Fellowships office on the payment terms listed in the job description. 

Graduate Student Advocacy Internship, United Way for Greater Austin (Summer 2026)

 

United Way for Greater Austin (UWATX) is seeking a highly motivated graduate student intern at the LBJ Graduate School at the University of Texas, Austin to support the creation of an advocacy internship as well as strengthening advocacy activities including policy research, relationship building efforts, record keeping and systemization of collateral, and support creation of UWATX’s advocacy strategy for the 2027 legislative session and beyond. This internship is designed for students interested in public policy, data-driven decision-making, system change, and supporting the nonprofit sector.

The intern will gain hands-on experience working with advocacy-minded professionals, internal and external to UWATX, coalition and program leaders at the organization, and building and creating systems to advance advocacy efforts at a large non-profit. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to directly support UWATX’s work in supporting the advancement of early childhood systems, economic mobility, and access to essential resources for families through systemic change and data-informed advocacy.

Public Policy and Data Research Intern, United Way of Texas (Spring/Summer) - CLOSED

United Ways of Texas (UWT) is seeking a highly motivated intern to support policy research, data gathering, and analysis that will inform UWT’s advocacy strategy for the 2027 legislative session and beyond. This internship is designed for students interested in public policy, data-driven decision making, and the nonprofit sector. The intern will gain hands-on experience working with ALICE in Texas data, 211 Texas Information & Referral Network data, and Built for Texas economic impact reports, with a specific focus on identifying and documenting barriers faced by ALICE households, including transportation access, workforce participation, affordability, and regional disparities. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to directly support UWT’s work advancing systemic change through data-informed advocacy.

Dates: February - April (15-20 hours/week)

Strong performance during the Spring 2026 internship may be considered for a full-time Summer 2026 internship, depending on organizational needs, funding, and intern availability.

Development Internship, LBJ Foundation (Spring/Summer) - CLOSED

The Development Intern will participate in a 16-week internship with the LBJ Foundation, gaining invaluable insight into the fundraising and stewardship efforts that sustain a presidential library. This role provides hands-on experience in nonprofit development, offering exposure to donor relations, grant research, and event support, while working alongside seasoned development professionals. 

Dates: March - April (20 hours/week); May - June (35 hours/week)
