Join us for the second session of a three-part Lunch & Learn Series with Board Fellows and the RGK Center. Our guest speaker for this session will be Erica Villarreal Ekwurzel, an alum of the LBJ School's MPAff programs and Graduate Portfolio in Nonprofit Studies at the RGK Center. Erica will give an overview of her professional journey and will review the basics of fundraising and finance in a nonprofit context.

Lunch will be served at 12 PM for students who RSVP

Speaker bio:

Erica Villarreal Ekwurzel brings over two decades of experience in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors to her role as Chief of Staff at Trellis Foundation. In this capacity, she oversees both internal and external responsibilities, including supporting staff and board teams, managing daily operations and foundation business matters, and collaborating with the Foundation’s President & CEO to set and execute strategic initiatives. Before joining Trellis Foundation, Erica founded and led CivicAIM, a philanthropic advisory firm dedicated to enhancing foundation governance, grantmaking, and social impact in Texas and beyond. She also served as a program officer at a Central Texas family foundation focused on education and worked as a frontline fundraiser, connecting resources to community-building opportunities. Erica is a graduate of Austin College and the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her master’s degree in public affairs with a certificate in nonprofit management and philanthropic studies from the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service.
